Mary graduated from The High School of Commerce. She was married to John Edward Dempsey, until the date of his passing, 11/3/1992.
Mary relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1980 where she worked several years at Cablevision/Time Warner Cable as a Dispatcher in Charlotte, NC. Thereafter, Mary worked her final years prior to retirement as a Unit Secretary at Carolinas Medical Center, also in Charlotte, NC.
Mary was a shining example of kindness and compassion. She had a heart that knew no bounds and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her genuine concern for others was evident in every action she took. She believed in the power of small gestures that could make a big difference and her heart warmth and generosity touched the lives of countless individuals. Her legacy will continue to inspire and remind us all of the importance of spreading love and compassion in the world.
Mary was a true Boston sports fan through and through. With unwavering loyalty, she cheered on the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots and Bruins with unmatched enthusiasm. Her dedication to the world of sports was infectious, bringing people together to share highs and lows of each game. She wore team colors proudly, and her knowledge of the team players, stats, and historical moments was second to none. Mary’s all-time two favorite players were Tom Brady and Julian Edelman.
Mary loved to spoil her grandkids. She showered them with endless love and attention and several gifts, making sure that every minute with every visit was a memorable one.
Mary also had a huge passion for animals. She loved spending time with Daisy and Doby, her two mini dachshunds. Mary’s legacy of generosity and compassion for others and animals will continue to inspire us all. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her unwavering spirit of giving and helping others.
Mary is survived by her son, Kevin Dempsey Sr; her daughter, Karen Sikes (Jeff); her grandchildren, Faith Earp (Cody), Kevin Dempsey Jr., Shelby Mills, and Brock Sikes; her great-grandson, Levi Earp; and many other loving extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill NC. A visitation will be held prior from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and a reception will be held after the memorial service.
