Mary Cavin Ceraso, 65 years young, passed on Friday, March 28th, 2025. Mary was born in Charlotte, NC to Edward Clark Cavin and Iris Benton Cavin on May 18, 1959. Mary proudly went to Western Carolina University post graduation from West Mecklenburg High School.
Mary’s first job was working at Mayberry Ice Cream Shop off of Park Road. She subsequently began working at a bank and quickly moved up to bank manager. Mary finally landed at Cigna Healthcare, where she worked for over 25 years.
Mary met and fell in love with Francis ‘Fran’ Ceraso in 1993 and they married in 1994. Later the same year, they announced the birth of their beautiful daughter, Mackenzie, who was the light of their life.
Mary was a cheerleader in high school and took pride in being a Civinette. She also liked to play tennis. She was a devoted Panthers fan and proud original season ticket holder. Her other loves were a large vanilla ice cream cone from Dairy Queen, scrabble, breakfast on Saturday mornings with her daughter, Mackenzie, and volunteering with the Special Olympics.
Mary was a vibrant member of her family and was known for her comedic storytelling ability. There was never a time Mary told a story and everyone didn’t walk away laughing. She was an amazingly strong woman who was an excellent example of strength and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Clark Cavin and husband, Francis Ceraso.
She is survived by Mackenzie Ceraso (daughter), Iris Benton Cavin (mother), Kelley Cavin (sister), Clark Cavin (brother), Cash Cavin (brother), and her sweet dog Molly.
A drop-in Celebration of Life Service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel on Sunday April 6th, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm.
