The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, March 23, at the Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 24, in the funeral home chapel The Reverend McCray Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
Born November 26, 1927 in Duplin County, North Carolina, Martha was the daughter of the late Clarence Columbus Barnette and Rosa Belle Smith Barnette. She was a graduate of Sumter High School. She retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company in 1992 after 23 years of service. Martha was a long time member of Plaza Church of the Nazarene and then Calvary Church of the Nazarene, where she served in many capacities. She taught Sunday School and directed the youth department for many years. She also served as president for the Plaza’s Nazarene Young People’s Society. Martha received a Distinguished Service Award given by the Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Moody Frierson, Jr.
Martha will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and Meme by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Marty Toto, Lynn Tino, and Cindy Morris. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ryan Tino, Amber Tino, Lauren Tino, and Kristen Tenniswood; and great grandson, Gavin Tino.
