Marian Shelton

Charlotte - Marian Duncan Shelton died peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Mrs. Shelton was born September 16, 1921 in Gastonia, NC, the only child of Otto Cornwell Duncan and Gladys Gossett Duncan.

Raised in Statesville, she graduated from Statesville High School in l939 and attended Mitchell College. She moved to Charlotte and worked first for Wachovia Bank until her marriage to William Haskell Porcher, Jr. Later on, she started a second career in real estate, and greatly enjoyed her association with Bissell Hayes Realtors. Mrs. Shelton was a member of the Charlotte Country Club and worshipped with First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. She was kind, compassionate, and loving, with a mischievous sparkle.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Cornwell Duncan, by her husband William Haskell Porcher, Jr., and by her husband Joseph G. Shelton. Her last years were spent in the loving care of the good people at Cuthbertson Village in Aldersgate, and Asbury Care Center.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
