Margaret Poole Mayo

Margaret Poole Mayo “Nana”, 87, of Charlotte, died peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2016 at home. She was born in Raleigh, NC to the late Mirther and Missouri Poole. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Billy Mayo, as well as a brother William Poole, sister Louise Wilbon and daughter-in-law Louise Mayo.

Margaret was known by Nana to her grandchildren and Great Nana/G'Nana to her great grandchildren. Friends young and old alike, often referred to her as Nana too. Nana held a special place in many hearts and lives. She led by example through relationships based on faith, trust, and love. No one loved their family more than Nana.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her children: Louis Mayo (Vera), Beth Sims (Tom), and Cindy Hammond (Todd); grandchildren: Kristina Kennedy (John), Ed Mayo (Jennifer), Brittany Williams (Jon), Megan Buckner (Wes), Jonathan Beford, and Katie Ragan (Mark); step grandchildren: Adam and Kristin Hammond; great grandchildren: Caleb Skeen, Ethan and Kaylee Mayo, Carter and Presley Williams, Brock and Tate Ragan; sister Mable Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 beginning at 11:00 with a service to follow at 1:00 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1901 Archdale Drive, Charlotte. Burial will conclude at Sharon Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who not only touched her life but ours too in so many ways. Ray and Brenda Painter, Floyd and Alice Hull, Mary Jean Hodges, and Priscilla, our Hospice Angel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
