Margaret Ann Lucey

Margaret was born in Charlotte, NC on September 5, 1974, the beloved daughter of Richard A. and Mary Jo Lucey. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from UNC Wilmington and was very proud to be a 5th grade teacher at St. Ann Catholic School for many years. She had some difficulties in life and was very happy to continue as a teacher assistant at St. Ann and later worked for the after-school program at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School and summer camp at St. Mark Catholic School. Margaret loved all “her children” teaching, tutoring, and caring for them.

In March 2021, Margaret was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and spent her remaining days at Charlotte Health and Rehabilitation Center. There she appreciated the companionship of her caregivers and fellow patients. She was elected as president of the patients, acting as liaison with the staff in advocating for patient needs.

In her free time, Margaret enjoyed watching sports, especially the Carolina Panthers, all things Notre Dame, Boston Red Sox, and Clemson football.

Margaret was a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her mother Mary Jo and her siblings Kathy (Joe), Kevin (Amanda), Jim (Hayley), Dan, and Kelly as well as her nieces and nephews Christopher (Nicole), Stephen (Bella), Brian, Laura, Davis, James, M.E., Sean, and Evelyn, and also her great nephews Illarion and Theodore. She was preceded in death by her father Richard A. and her beloved dog Nellie.

A visitation for Margaret will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210. A burial will immediately follow Mass on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Northlake Memorial Gardens, 11001 Alexandriana Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.
