Born November 22, 1969 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he moved to Charlotte at six-months old, where he resided for his entire life. A graduate of Myers Park High School, Eddie earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the Cameron School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He began his career in sales and marketing before transitioning to managing the longtime family business, Heyworth Plumbing Company, where he eventually became the owner.
Eddie was a Boy Scout, a member at the National and State levels of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association, an associate member of Carolina Association of General Contractors, and a lifetime member of Chi Phi Fraternity, where everyone has fond memories of “Mustang Eddie.”
The joys of Eddie’s life were his family and friends. He never met a stranger and would do anything to help anyone. He was a devoted and doting father who attended all school, life, and sports activities, cheering fiercely at every event. Eddie eagerly learned new skills and worked tirelessly to master everything. An avid hunter, fisherman, traveler, certified scuba diver, Carolina Panthers fan (original PSL owner), etc, Eddie spent much of his life loving his family and living out his dreams.
He will be deeply missed by his family: wife, Tawny Rose Wall; one son, Ethan Cohen Heyworth (13 years old); parents, Malcolm “Butch” and Linda Heyworth; sister, April Heyworth (spouse, Mark Carter, 2 nieces, Autumn Carter; Natalye Vargas (spouse, Brandon and great-niece, Francesca) and 1 nephew, Christopher Carter; mother-in-law Patricia Rose Wall; brother-in-law Kirk Wall (spouse, Todd Fulbright); and a very large extended family comprising many aunts, uncles, cousins, Chi Phi brothers, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father-in-law, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends who were there at Heaven’s gate to welcome him with open arms.
The family will receive friends June 17th, at McEwen Funeral Service—Pineville Chapel,10500 Park Road from 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m. A service to celebrate Eddie’s life will be held immediately following visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m. After the service, family and friends are invited to attend a brief graveside farewell at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue.
