Mae McGee Frye

Mae McGee Frye, 89, of Charlotte, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 1, 2022. Mae was born in Little Switzerland, NC on December 1, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Clay and Pearl McGee, and Stepmother Jenny McGee.

Mae moved to Charlotte when she was a teenager and soon began working for BellSouth. She met the love her life, Perry Frye, through mutual friends in 1952. They married in 1956 and started a family two years later. Mae and Perry shared 65 wonderful years together before Perry passed in 2021.

Mae was known as one of the most kindhearted, gentle, and genuine women imaginable. Family would describe her as angelic, and those who knew her were truly blessed. Mae was a devoted Christian, and long-time member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. She left this world unafraid, knowing she was going home to her savior, Jesus Christ, and to family who had preceded her.

Mae is survived by her daughter Terry Frye of Charlotte, and son, Scott Frye and his wife, Marcia of Chesapeake, VA, grandchildren Alyse McDaniel Eisenberg and husband Aaron, Wesley McDaniel and partner Taylor Navarro, Carsten Frye, and Bennett Frye, great granddaughter, Ayla Eisenberg, sister, Lucy Cook, and son-in-law Kevin McDaniel.

Mae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Perry Frye, sweet daughter, Sandra Frye McDaniel, and siblings Russell McGee, Paul McGee, and Mary Ellen Bailey.

The family would like to thank the staff of Novant Hospice who showed extraordinary compassion and care during Mae’s last days.

Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 12:30pm at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, 28212. The family will welcome friends following the service, and then would like for you join them for food and refreshments.
