Lyndell Dwain Thompson, 76, of Mint Hill, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at his residence. Born on April 24, 1936 in Albemarle, NC. Lyndell graduated from Albemarle High School. He attended Pfeiffer University, and served in the Army National Guard. He went to work for the Ervin Company for 25 years as a Property Manager. He was President of Group 10 Properties prior to starting Lyndell Thompson Builders. He was a member of Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He also served on the board at Southern Community Bank. He loved feeding the seniors at the annual Chamber Christmas breakfast. He was a member of Cokesbury UMC and attended Hickory Grove Baptist church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde McCoin Thompson and Della Mae Easley Thompson, brother, Alton Thompson, Sister, Audrey Byrd and Sister, Carol Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Yvonne Davis Thompson and sons, Kevin Thompson and wife Gailyn , Eric Thompson and Emory Thompson and wife Mary Beth , Grandchildren; Bryan Thompson and wife Maranda, Chad Thompson, Blaire Thompson and Jarrett Thompson, Great Grandson, Grant Thompson, Sister-in-law, Karen Davis Russell and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel in Mint Hill with a service to follow at 1:00pm in the chapel with Rev. Timothy Walker officiating.
Lyndell loved spending time at Myrtle Beach, SC and was an avid Carolina Panthers fan. He was a supporter of youth sports in Mint Hill. Very special thanks to Doris Lee, Beatrice Fwamba and Lisa Martinez Grant for the care they have provided the family during this time, and a special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice. Lyndell was loved and will be greatly missed.
