Lucille Ashley Wolfe

February 20, 1915 – April 26, 2014

CHARLOTTE - Lucille Ashley Wolfe, 99, died April 26, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Queen and Doc Ashley. She was married for 49 years to the late James Richard Wolfe. They lived in Lancaster County, SC.

Lucille was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, SC, where she sang in the church choir in her earlier years. She owned and operated Lucille's Alteration Shop in Fort Mill for 45 years. She retired at the age of 85.

She loved working in the garden with her son-in-law, Ralph Rea. She was an expert at growing flowers. Everything she planted would live and grow. She loved spending a week at Ocean Isle Beach each summer with the family. Fishing was of great pleasure to her. Lucille was a wonderful cook and prepared Sunday lunch each week for family and in-laws.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jim Wolfe, 2 infant sons, grandson, Scott Rea, and 5 brothers: Louis, Bill, Hazel, John, and Jesse Ashley.

She is survived by daughter, Janie Wolfe Rea (Ralph); granddaughter, Kelly Rea Chiseck (Billy); granddaughter, Ashley Rea Bolick (Brett); 5 great grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, and Avery Chiseck and Kinsey and Ethan Bolick, all of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Walter H. Wolfe, of Charlotte.

A memorial service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Hwy., Fort Mill, SC. The Rev. Joel McMakin will officiate. Visitation will follow the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Lucille may be made to Pleasant Hill UMC, 238 Fort Mill Hwy., Fort Mill, SC 29707.
