Born March 11, 1920 in Charlotte, she married Vann McCorkle in 1939 and was blessed with 70 years of marriage and four children. Lorraine was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
She was a wonderful homemaker and dearly loved her family. She had a passion for cooking and putting up vegetables from their garden. In December 1993 she was commissioned as a Stephen Minister, a milestone in her life.
She is survived by sons Ronald and Steven McCorkle, and a daughter, Patti Smith; daughters-in-law, Sue and Alexandra McCorkle and son-in-law, Steven Smith. She has two granddaughters, Heather Blalock and Bridget McCorkle and 4 great-grandchildren, Diva Kelly, Allyson Blalock, Ryleigh McCorkle and Rhiannon McCorkle. She is preceded in death by her husband Vann McCorkle and her son, Philip McCorkle.
The family will greet friends Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
