Lindsay worked as a printer and was a member of the fire brigade in Jamaica before immigrating to Brooklyn, New York in 1969. He also became the proud father of three children from his first marriage. He later returned to Jamaica in 1972 to marry his second wife and devoted companion, Valerie Clover Bailey. While in Brooklyn, Lindsay worked as a boiler mechanic and welder until his retirement in 2003. He and Valerie then moved to their current home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lindsay had an infectious personality and made friends everywhere he went. He always had a story, a joke and a parable for everyone. He was well and deeply loved by many, and affectionately referred to as “the mayor” of the block both in Brooklyn and Charlotte. He was also “the favorite” among his many nieces and nephews.
Lindsay had a deep love of music, wildlife and gardening. He loved to play his records loud and entertain his guests. His garden was always well tended and he gladly shared the fruits of his labor with others.
Lindsay was the sixth of nine children and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Valerie; his children Lindsay Jr., Sandra, Allyson, and Juliet; his granddaughters, Tempestt and Lindsay Dawn; his sisters Pansy and Eillry; his brothers, Cecil and Clive; his many nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
