Born on December 20, 1940, in Charlotte, Linda was the daughter of Obie and Ellie Simms. She attended Central High School and Burton Institute in Charlotte, graduating in 1959. She was married to Ken Meredith for 17 years and they shared four children. Linda had a successful career, working for Polymerland and GE Corporation in the plastics division. She was highly regarded by her co-workers and customers. Linda often traveled to Parkersburg, VA and Puerto Rico to implement best operational practices through training initiatives. Even though she claimed to dislike math in school, she successfully received her Six Sigma certification.
Linda had a zest for life and a warm heart. She was known for her love of cooking and would often prepare meals for others. She enjoyed shopping at the King's Drive and Regional Farmers markets, where she made many friends. She was well known at her local grocery store, bank, pharmacy, and restaurants where she befriended many. Linda adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished spending time with them. She had a passion for music, especially bluegrass, and loved the beauty of the mountains. Gardening, reading, QVC shopping, and indulging in ice cream cones were some of her favorite pastimes.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Lori Fultz Schmitt, and son-in-law Dale. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Colbert and her husband Darion, Jacob Fultz and his fiancé Joanna, Bekah Fultz, and Michaela Meredith. Linda's memory will be carried on by her four great-grandchildren, Caleb Colbert, Remi Colbert, Sebastian Meredith, and Alice Kurten. She is also survived by three siblings and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Obie and Ellie Simms, her daughter Lisa Meredith, and her sons Michael Meredith and William Meredith.
