Lillian was born August 29, 1921 in Wadeville, NC. She lived in Norwood, NC before moving to Charlotte when she was seven years old and graduated from Berryhill High School in 1939. Lillian attended Skyland Radio School in Winston-Salem, NC in support of the war effort by servicing aircraft radio equipment. She was also employed by Pneumafil and Wil-Mat.
Lillian was a lifelong member of Christ Presbyterian Church, where she served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, elder and circle member.
The joy of Lillian’s life was her family. She loved spending time with each family member and was interested in every aspect of their life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Dan E. Fleming (Linda), and daughter-in-law, Nancy Wilson; four grandchildren, Michelle Wilson Shimberg (Cliff), Melanie Wilson, Daniel Fleming and Austin Fleming, as well as two great-grandchildren, Madison Shimberg and Cole Shimberg. Lillian also had several beloved nieces and nephews, including Donna Lane, Joe Fleming and Brenda Shifflette, and a special family friend, Andrew Chen.
She was preceded in death by husband, James E. Wilson; husband, Guy E. Fleming; son, Michael S. Wilson; and her brothers, Frank Smith, Donald Smith and William Smith.
A service to celebrate Lillian’s life will be held at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, October 22nd, immediately following the worship service at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2461 Arty Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
