Lee was born on December 1, 1927, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Isadore and Anna Fogel, Russian immigrants. In 1955, he met Marlyn Sokolinski on a blind date and they were married the next year. They went on to have two daughters and four grandsons.
After working in real estate for a few years, Lee decided to open his own firm, the Lee M. Fogel Co., a real estate investment and brokerage firm specializing in commercial property in the five boroughs of New York, which he ran for the entirety of his career.
In retirement, Marlyn and Lee were longtime residents of Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, where Lee was active in the community through board leadership positions. Lee loved his family, winning club tennis championships, his real estate career, and traveling.
Lee was predeceased by Marlyn in February of this year, after 66 years of marriage. He is survived by his two daughters Cindy Mackler and her husband Dan of Miami, Florida, Deborah Verderame and her husband John of Charlotte, North Carolina, and by his four grandsons, David Mackler, Matt Mackler, John Verderame and Nick Verderame.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive. in Mathews, North Carolina on Sunday, September 3rd, at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Charlotte, a nonprofit organization that was extremely helpful to both Lee, Marlyn, and the family in their last days.
