Larry was born on November 6, 1935, in Ruth, NC, to the late Garner Linley Geer and the late Viola Livingston Geer. Following his graduation from East Mecklenburg High School in 1954, he worked in construction and was devoted to helping his parents and siblings.
In 1958, he was drafted into the US Army, where he was eventually stationed in Germany. Upon return to Charlotte, he joined the Charlotte Fire Department, where his career progressed to Captain and ultimately, Station Commander. Being EMT trained, he helped many people as a first responder. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
But more than anything, Larry was a devoted family man and father. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Julia B. Geer, of Terrell, NC. He loved spending time with his wife and children, sharing stories, playing sports outside, and watching their favorite TV shows. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. His patience and kindness were unwavering.
In his free time, Larry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was very independent, liked to travel, and enjoyed watching cowboy movies. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Larry could fix anything.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Julia Bost Geer, his children, William Michael Geer (Andrea Dahl), Susan Geer Chrusniak (James Chrusniak), his grandchildren, Cassandra Leeanne Geer, William Christopher Geer, Samantha Anne Chrusniak and Joshua William Chrusniak, and his brothers, Ronald M.
