

She was born April 9, 1934, in Warren Plains, NC to the late Willard and Lillie Felts Overby. Following graduation from John Graham High School, she attended East Carolina University and majored in Music. She spent over 50 years in the insurance industry.
Kat moved to Charlotte in 1959. She was a member of Forest Hill Church since 1964 and was active in Choir, Circle and Life Groups. She was a volunteer organist at Belk Chapel, located at Presbyterian Hospital, and was active in the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary.
Kat loved being surrounded by friends and family, especially her “Shortcakes” and grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, friend to all and woman of faith. She enjoyed traveling with her church and cheering on the UNC Tar Heels.
She is survived by her children - William Pridgen (Amy) of Charlotte, Kathy Pridgen Beach (Troy) of Fort Mill, and daughter-in-law Facelia Pridgen of Mt. Holly; six grandchildren – Taylor Pridgen, Kristopher Pridgen, Joshua Beach, Caleb Beach, Macy Pridgen and Lily Pridgen; and one great-granddaughter Jayden Pridgen; as well as her brother Willard “Red” Overby of Wendell, NC.
In addition to her Parents, Kat was preceded in death by siblings, David Overby, Anne Rooker and her son, Charles “Sandy” Pridgen.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Laurels.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held at 1 pm Saturday, April 9th at Forest Hill - South Park Campus on Park Road. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of William and Amy Pridgen.
