She was a loving mother. She was the daughter of Charles and Louise Martin and sister to Paulette Olsen who preceded her in death. Kathie was born in New York City in the borough of Manhattan. She often reminisced on going to Yankee games, and Rockefeller Center with her dad as a little girl. She became Catholic at a young age along with her mother. Her father became Catholic before his death when Kathie was 7.
Kathie continued to live in New York with her mother, but soon attended St. Joseph’s Academy boarding school in the Catskills. She spent many summers traveling with her mother to Europe, visiting convents that her mother would send assistance to. Upon completing high school, she moved south where family was. She lived in Charlotte, NC most of her life.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and later, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church once it opened. She remained in Charlotte before moving to Conover, NC late in life for the company of daughters to spend time with. She was a dedicated and hard worker, and she took care of her family whom she loved very much. She was a pious woman who instilled into her children a love for God. She was not afraid to tell you what she thought if she felt you needed to hear it for your own good. She spent most of her time keeping up with her children, always interested in what they were doing and telling others about their accomplishments.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria Rauch, Kristie Fenner (Jeff), and Kelli Hagler (Curtis), and her son, Dr. Michael Martin (Shauna); grandchildren: Tina Rauch, Nicholas Rauch, Austin Rauch, Kristin Rauch, Joshua Fenner (Savannah), Daniell Head (Justin), Jacob Fenner (Connelly), Matthew Walters (Nicole), Stephen Walters, CJ Hagler (Kaitlin); Brianna Martin, Christopher Martin, and Sophia Martin; great-grandchildren Alissa Rauch, Alexis Rauch, Mia Rauch, and Kiera Rauch; close friend, Warner Smith.
