Kappy McCleneghan passed away March 27, 2013 surrounded by loved family members after a prolonged illness. She was born in Athens, GA in 1959 to Frank A. McCleneghan, Jr. and Katherine Coleman Fleming.
Kappy grew up in Charlotte and graduated from West Charlotte High School. She completed an Art degree and MFA at East Carolina University. Her professional calling was as a painter and an art educator; she taught history and painting at CPCC, Pfeiffer, and Queens University. Her and her husband’s artistic flair is also expressed in their home and garden. In addition to being a sister, wife, and mother, she was a generous soul, and will be remembered as a selfless person concerned for others.
Kappy is survived and greatly missed by husband Keith Bryant; sons, Alexander and Jesse Bryant of Charlotte; siblings, Frank A. McCleneghan, III of Charlotte and Coleman McCleneghan of Boone; and numerous friends, cousins, aunts and uncles. Her presence and love will resonate with those she knew for their lifetimes.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th at Tate Hall, in the Overcash building at CPCC (parking on 4th street at Faculty/Theater Lot). Guests will be received following the memorial.
