Katherine Freeman Grier

Ms. Katherine Freeman Grier, 91, of Matthews, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Matthews, NC. Ms. Grier was preceded in death by her husband, William Archie Grier Sr., her infant daughter, Mary Katherine Grier and her sister, Lillian Knight.

She is survived by three sons; William “Bill” Grier (Marian) of Charlotte, George Grier (Linda) of Georgia and Bobby Grier (Cheryl ) of Monroe; daughter, Ann Chambers (Willie) of Stallings; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother, Bill Freeman of Sanford and sister, Jane Crisco of Matthews.

Katherine was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00pm with a funeral service to celebrate her life following at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at the Historic Matthews Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Matthews Presbyterian Chapel Fund, 207 W. John St. Matthews, NC 28105.
