Mrs. June Laughlin McIntyre, 84, of Denver, NC, formerly of Charlotte passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 28, 2021. She was born September 3, 1936, daughter of Eugene Morgan Laughlin and Lillian Hobson Laughlin in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Charlotte.
Mrs. McIntyre graduated from Myers Park High School in 1955. She attended Queens College then transferred to Wake Forest University. She married Daniel B. McIntyre, Jr. in 1962. She and Dan celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to her “rock” passing in 2016.
Mrs. McIntyre raised their two children in Charlotte and upon Dan’s retirement, relocated to Denver, North
Carolina on Lake Norman. A lifelong Methodist, she was a childhood member of Mouzon United Methodist Church, a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church and also Salem United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choirs. She was a gifted pianist who enjoyed accompanying her Sunday School classes in hymns. With her husband, she was very involved in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and looked forward to laity conferences with Dan.
She is pre-deceased by her loving husband, Dan McIntyre. She is survived by her son, Baker McIntyre, (Betsy); daughter, Vicki Mauney (Todd); and four grandchildren, Jessica Mauney, Erica Mauney, Christopher Mauney and Daniel McIntyre.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Home - Myers Park Chapel, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will also receive friends at 10:30 am
on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, NC immediately followed by the service to celebrate June’s life at 11:00 am. A committal by the graveside will follow at 2:00 pm at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
