J. Culp of Charlotte, a fanatic fan of Duke University teams, and a dedicated member of St. John's Baptist Church, where he was called "a one-man greeting committee", died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1937 to A. Banks and Eula Mae Martin Culp.
He graduated from Mooresville High School and Duke University. Another favorite of his was bluegrass music.
J. was married to his high school sweetheart, Pat, who survives him. Also surviving are his daughter, Teresa Morse and husband Kelly of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Kayla Phillips, Hannah Breitzman, Noah Breitzman, and Jonah Ingram; his brother, Albert Culp and wife Sharon of Mooresville, NC and their children, Ross Culp of Mooresville, and Laura Foster and husband David of Lewisville, NC; his stepdaughter, Heather Fain and husband Mike of Mooresville; and his stepson, Charlie Caldwell and wife Cari of Richmond, VA.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 am Monday, Jan. 13th at Sharon Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm at St. John's Baptist Church.
