Charlotte, NC - Julia Simpson Robinson passed away on February 17, 2021 at Legacy Heights Senior Living. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Jones Simpson and Eva Porter Simpson. Julia was the wife of the late William Frank Robinson.
After growing up in Waxhaw, she graduated from Erskine College in 1943 and later did graduate work at UNCC. She taught English and French for one year at Unionville High School before getting married on August 15, 1944. At the end of World War II, they settled in Charlotte where she was employed by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Mrs. Robinson was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and served as a representative to Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary and to Alexander’s Children Center.
After 20 years of parenting, playing tennis, and reading best sellers, she returned to teaching at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She retired from teaching lastly at Carmel Junior High.
Julia is survived by two sons, William Frank Robinson, Jr. (Becky) of Chesterfield, MO and Robert D. Robinson (Teresa) of Weddington, NC. Additionally, she is survived by nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, David T. Simpson of Pinehurst, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 22nd, in the chapel of McEwen @ Myers Park, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will be held at Sharon Memorial Park.
