Mr. Weiss graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte and attended Central Piedmont Community College and Kings Business School. He retired after 56 years from The Studio Shop where he was employed as a salesman and custom frame designer. In addition, Mr. Weiss was an expert in the area of art restoration and was able to assist numerous clients in preservation and salvaging of their family art treasures. Restoration was one of his most favorite parts of his work because he was always able to relate it to the way Jesus had restored him.
Mr. Weiss’s biggest passion in life was his love of Jesus. He was very quick to ask others if they were ready to meet Jesus. He served several years as a Youth group leader, Sunday School teacher, and board member. Next to Jesus, Hugh loved his immediate family, church family, and friends. He was always in church or at church until his health prevented it. He loved to sing and worship his God. He believed everyone should know the Peace of Jesus and all that He offers. Mr. Weiss was an avid reader and writer. He wrote many Sunday School and Bible study lessons through the years. One of his most favorite pastimes was watching his son and grandsons playing sports, watching baseball on television, and encouraging his daughter in her projects.
Mr. Weiss is preceded in death by his parents, Jud Hughes Weiss, Sr. and Claudia Simpson Weiss and his brother, Julius Roger Weiss. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Virginia, his daughter, Erika, his son, Adam (Sarah), and his treasured grandsons, Caleb and Elijah. The family would like to acknowledge the support and care they have received from their church family at Greater Life Church.
