Joy enjoyed music, arts and crafts, and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Some of her favorite things were receiving pink roses, cheeseburgers and Pepsis while discussing different dress styles, travels and shopping.
Joy resided at The Thad E. Saleeby Developmental Center in Hartsville SC.
Joy is survived by her brothers, Robert (Beth) Samuels of Freeport, Fl. and Mark (Alison) Samuels of Sugar Hill, Ga.; her sister Sonja Samuels of Atlanta, Ga.; her nieces, Patti Ealum, Evie Cooper, Rachel Samuels and Reba Aguilar; her great-nephew, Levi Cooper; and her great-niece, Kathryn Cooper.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Margaret.
The family would like to thank The Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center for their medical care of Joy and The SC Dept. of Disabilities and Special Needs (Saleeby Center in Hartsville, SC) for continued unfailing support and loving care they have provided since 1997.
The family would like to thank all team members of these organizations but a special thank you to Linda Benjamin (her special friend) at Saleeby Center.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on June 15th, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joy’s name to The Thad E. Saleeby Developmental Center, 714 Lewellen Ave., Hartsville, SC 29550.
