Jonathan “Jon” White, 56, passed away on November 27, 2022, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Jon was surrounded by his family during his final moments. He was a loving husband, father, son, family member and friend who will be dearly missed.
Jon was born on September 19, 1966 to Mary and Jon White in Charleston, West Virginia where he lived until he was 8 years old. His family then moved to Orlando, Florida until he was 21 where he enjoyed working at SeaWorld and selling various cars out of his driveway. He then moved to Charlotte with his family in 1987 where he stayed and began his own family. He spent many years at VTI Visual Technologies and later began his own landscaping business, Lawns by Jon, in 2007 which allowed him to do the work he loved while building relationships with his clients.
Jon was a bright light in everyone’s lives and was known for his great sense of humor, kindness and ability to sell practically anything. He never met a stranger and made everyone feel like family. Jon was a true outdoorsman who loved talking about his latest hunting trip with his family and was always looking forward to the next trip. Jon was so proud of his kids and their achievements and loved spending time with and spoiling his grandkids.
Jon was diagnosed with cancer, Multiple Myeloma, in 2018, a cancer of the plasma cells. Jon went through several rounds of treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation and bone marrow transplants. Jon was determined to beat this awful disease.
Jon is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Holly, his daughter Kim Montecalvo, his son and daughter-in-law, Corey and McKenzie White, his son, Joey White, and stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Wes Skidmore, Josh and Emily Skidmore, and Jonathan Skidmore. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Brantley, Lukas, Brooklynn, and Isla; his parents, Mary and Jon, sister Laura, and his cousins and friends.
A mass to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, in the Daily Mass Chapel. A receiving line will begin at 12:00 PM. The Daily Mass Chapel is located to the left of the main Church entrance by the Mary statue and rose garden.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the GoFundMe dedicated to Holly and Joey to help pay for medical expenses, final resting expenses, and alleviate additional costs they may endure during this difficult time.
