A graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Scott was a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church in Denver, NC.
Scott worked for numerous years in the medical field but his most important job was caretaker for his parents.
An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Carolina Hurricanes and the Carolina Panthers. He enjoyed White Water Rafting and attending Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac concerts. He was also a fan of the original "Star Trek."
He loved supporting the House of Mercy and won several awards as an individual fundraiser.
More than anything, Scott loved the Lord and his family. He will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his father, Earl M. Cloninger; his siblings, David (Mary) Cloninger, Rick Cloninger, Becky Cloninger and Denise (Chuck) Renaud; uncle, Phil Hicks; 1 nephew, 5 nieces along with 13 great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
In addition to his mother, Scott was preceded in death by his nephew, Casey Cloninger; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. J.D Ingram and Mr. & Mrs. Giles Cloninger; 3 amazing aunts, Betty, Libby and Carolyn.
Funeral Service 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2024 at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, NC. Visitation 12 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial in the church cemetery. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
