Johnsie Scott Young, 79, of Charlotte, passed away October 18, 2020. Born January 10, 1941 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of Frederick and Eretha (Byrd) Scott. She married William Earl Young on May 15, 1965.
Johnsie graduated from Logan High School in 1958 and Bennett College in 1962, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Physical Education. She was an educator in Mecklenburg County for numerous years and owner of The Dance Connection, formerly Young’s School of Dance, from 1966 to 1979. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she served on the Elder’s Board, taught Sunday school and ministered with the dance team. She was also a member of Las Amigas Inc.
She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, traveling, visiting casinos and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Ricardo (Monica) Young, Ron Young and Rodrick Young; grandchildren, D’Aundre Ervin, Simone Young, Janae Young, Jasmati Young, Zicarri Young, Rhi’Al Young, Rodrick Young Jr. and Ramesses Young; great-grandchildren, Aundrea Ervin, Harmony Headen and Emir Ervin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, James Scott.
