John is survived by his daughter, Debra Hamm and her husband Michael of Waxhaw, NC, son John and his wife Amanda of Arlington, VA, daughter Deanna of Charlotte, NC, and sister Connie Weaver Seals of Tampa, FL. He was proud of his 7 grandchildren: Robert Hamm and his wife Corrie of Monroe, NC, Renee McNeil and her husband Dustin of Holly Springs, NC, David Hamm and his wife Julia of Waxhaw, NC; Derrick Hamm and his wife Emily of Cummings, GA; and Dexter, Katie, and Delaney Weaver of Arlington, VA. John also had 11 adored great grandchildren: Devin and his wife Madison, David, Adian, Cooper, Tahla, Emily, Levi, Bryston, Caleb, Eliza, and Clara.
He is predeceased by his son Robert, wife Barbara, sister Marianne Weaver Branch, and parents John and Martha Jewel Weaver.
John will be remembered for being a tremendous father and provider. Those that loved him recognize his passion for his family, strong work ethic, and his service to our country while in the United States Air Force. After a remarkable sales career, John indulged in his love of history, books, national parks, and fishing. Though, the family notes with humor that he never caught any fish except at a fish fry.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home at 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 from 4pm to 6pm. A family service and burial to honor his life will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who are inclined are encouraged to make a Memorial Gift to the National Park Service Foundation, where John loved to vacation with his family.
