John H. Watts

SMSgt Retired, John Henry Watts, age 84 of the Oakdale Community passed away September 27, 2012. A gathering of the family will be from 7:00-9:00PM Monday, October 1st at Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, N. C. A graveside service will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, October 2nd at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Charlotte with full military honors, Minister Kirk Sams officiating.

Mr. Watts was born in Anson County November 26, 1927 son of the late Henry Grady and Bertha Lucille Hargett Watts. He was a member of the Kannapolis Church of Christ, had served 13 years in the Navy and 9 in the National Guard. He attended Paw Creek High School, had been employed by Hipp Construction Company 20 years and later owned Watts’ Remodeling Service. Surviving are:

Wife of 61 years, Betty Watts

Son: Jim Watts of Moore, Okla. and daughter, Janet Watts of Charlotte

Children of Heart: Robert and Jennifer Marcik of Moore, Okla., Pam and Kirk Sams of Concord, NC, and Doug and Effie Baily of Charlotte

Grandchildren, Ashley Fisher, Kyle Marcik, Hillary Sams and Caleb Sams, great grandchild, Tayven Fisher,

Sister: Betty Guess of Charlotte

Sister-in-law: Bobbie Watts of Charlotte

Brothers; Bill Watts and wife, Ann of Fayetteville, NC and Carson Watts and wife, Judy of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Watts.
