John Wilson Severs, Jr died peacefully at age 92 on September 17, 2017 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. John was born August 1, 1925, was a graduate of Harding High School. Everyone knew John as “Jack”. He was a World War II Veteran, given an honorable discharge in 1945 with a Purple Heart. Jack was a retired US Postal letter carrier, a member of West Gate Mecklenburg Masons #738 and also a member of Paw Creek American Legion, Post #353 where he also managed their baseball team. He was an avid golfer and worked his later years at Oak Hills Golf Club. He is survived by his two sons, Mark Steven Severs and wife Mary Severs of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Wilson Severs of Charlotte, NC, and granddaughter, Danielle Severs of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife Claudia Severs. A Memorial service will be held at the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home from 1-2pm on October 14, 2017. There will be a Military and Masonic ceremony at the service. Visitation will be held within the hour prior to the service.
