John "Buddy" Turner McMillion, age 90, of Maiden, NC passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. Born May 16, 1933 in Pocahontas, VA, he was the son of the late Turner and Maggie (Odom) McMillion. He was husband of the late Peggy Joyce McMillion for 57 years.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Buddy served his country during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and many years later, retired from Overnite Freight as a truck driver with 1,000,000 miles under his belt. He was also a member of Spirit Life Church of God in Lincoln County.
Buddy is survived by his grandchildren, John McMillion and Elyse (Chris) Scacchetti; great-grandchildren, Leah, Sophia, Chris Jr. and Christole Scacchetti; sister, Doris Finley.
In addition to his wife and parents, Buddy was also preceded in death by his son, John Wesley McMillion; brothers, Billy Ray and Jackie Lee Mcmillion.
A visitation for Buddy will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral service, 11:00 AM in the Paul Helton Chapel at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
