John Evans Lacey

John Lacey, 19, of Charlotte, born on August 18, 1991, died on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center.

John was the son of Bob Lacey and Gigi McNinch, the stepson of Mary Lacey and Bo McNinch, the brother to Landon Lacey and Ally Lacey, and the grandson of Mary Schlosser and Jack and Jeanne Evans.

John graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School in June 2010 and was enrolled as a freshman at High Point University.

John embraced life enthusiastically, always with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He brought great joy to his family and friends with his infectious laugh, kind heart and generous spirit. He was a loyal friend to many – those from his soccer teams, choral group, performing band, high school classes and college dormitory. John had the privilege to travel to numerous countries and always embraced new adventures and cultures. He loved playing soccer, music and video games – but most importantly, he loved people. He was handsome and charming and always made others feel at ease and appreciated.

John was genuine and real. He will always be remembered for his warm, kind and sweet spirit. ‘… holy and dearly beloved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’ (Colossians 3:12b) John reflected these characteristics to those he shared life with. John experienced and accomplished much in his short life and positively influenced many. His life added joy to ours; all of us who had the privilege to know him will greatly miss him!

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 24, at 11 a.m. at Church at Charlotte, 2500 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
