John Patrick Kane

John Patrick Kane, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the age of 90. Born in Hanover Township, PA, he was the son of the late Walter Aloysius and Catherine Rita (Delmore) Kane.

Jack married the love of his life Edna M. Gotschall in 1963. She preceded him in death in 2001 after sharing 37 years of marriage.

Surviving are his daughter, Catherine Ann Hines (James) of Hollidaysburg, PA; grandson, Matthew John Hines of Hollidaysburg, PA; two granddaughters, Lauren and Maria Kane of Charlotte, NC, and their mother, Michelle Kane; a brother-in-law, Charles (Paula) Gotschall, of Sebring, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Kane, who passed away on September 22, 2024; a grandson, Andrew J. Hines; and a brother, Walter A. Kane.

Jack graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA, in 1951. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and graduated from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA, in 1958. He then began a 30 year career with the Social Security Administration, retiring as a District Manager in 1987. He then worked for the Cigna Companies, Pittsburgh, PA, retiring in 1997.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and following Notre Dame football.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Charlotte, NC.

A private interment will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Gibsonia, PA.
