John Elmer Stecher "Jack" CHARLOTTE - John "Jack" Elmer Stecher, 63, of Charlotte, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on November 17, 2015. He was born and raised in Irvington, NJ to the late Samuel and Claire Stecher. Jack was an Eagle Scout and a Cornell graduate. He and his family moved to Charlotte 30 years ago to open Flakey Jake's Restaurant. He was the owner of Jebco Sportswear Company with a NASCAR license and was also employed by Piedmont / US Air. Jack was very involved in the community; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Catholic School Board, ran the Toy Drive at St. Vincent's for over 20 years and coached basketball at St. Ann's, baseball at park Sharon and soccer at Holy Trinity. He was also an actor and member of the IMDB - he was backup for Donald Sutherland in all of the Hunger Games movies, he played Cowboy Clint in Southern Fried Sting as well as numerous other movies and TV shows. Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara Stecher; sons, Spencer Stecher and Matthew (Kathryn) Stecher; his two grandsons who were his pride and joy, Caleb and Cade Stecher; brother, Samuel Stecher; sister, Patricia Bruder and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his close friends of the BFL. A visitation will be held tonight, Friday, November 20, from 7 to 9 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 10:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte.
