John William Hensley

Known as Billy to his immediate family, he was born on May 28, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of Hazel Marie Hall and Sylvester James Hensley.

Billy leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife Renee Hensley, and daughter Robyn Michelle; his sisters Donna Hensley and Novis Gray, and brother Gary McGuire; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughters Lara and Lisa Hensley, and brother Ronald McGuire.

John worked as an estimator for many years and retired in 2012 in Charlotte, NC. In his free time, he loved to fish, and play poker with long time friends, enjoyed the casinos, was an avid chess player, and enjoyed watching basketball games.

The family acknowledges with deep appreciation all act of kindness extended to them during this bereavement hour. May God bless you for all your thoughtfulness and concern.

A visitation for John will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM., with a repass at 12 noon. The committal service will follow afterwards at Evergreen Cemetery of Charlotte, 4426 Central Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205.
