John Rodger Harkey of Charlotte age 74 passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2019 in Salisbury.
John is survived by his four brothers and two sisters; George Harkey of Mint Hill, Jerry Harkey of Mt. Holly, Larry Harkey of Concord and Arthur Harkey of Harrisburg, Hilda Sowell of Pageland and Kay White of Mooresville.
John was born on November 23rd, 1944 to parents Ervin and Viola Harkey. He graduated from Grainger High School and then served in the US Army and fought in Vietnam. Upon returning, he started a job with the City of Charlotte as a bus driver until he retired.
John is preceded in death by his mother Viola, father Ervin and brother Ervin Harkey, Jr.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at 2pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. A graveside service will immediately follow.
