John C Davis

J.C. graduated from Berryhill High School in 1941. During World War II, JC spent 32 months in Europe serving in Company C of the 831st Aviation Engineers which was attached to the 8th Air Force.

He had a 42 year career with Duke Energy.

J.C. Enjoyed fishing, gardening, working puzzles and following sports of all types. He bowled, umpired fast pitch softball and also served as softball commissioner.

Recently his health has prevented attendance but before that J.C. was an active and committed member of First Baptist Church Charlotte. He was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and was an honorary life-time deacon. He volunteered in several other areas of the church as well.

J.C. is survived by his wife of 71 years Mary S. Davis; daughters Marcia Craig (Jim); Libby Smith (J.D) grandchildren Ashley Smith (Jason); Kevin Smith (Leslie); great grandchildren Avery and Jaxon Lawing and Blake Smith.

Visitation will be at McEwen Funeral Service 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 1:30 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Charlotte, Mount Home Baptist Church Building Fund (Graceful Giving) or Burke County Hospice & Palliative Care. Arrangements are under the care of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.
