Joe E. Hudson

Mr. Hudson, age 77, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital - Main. Born January 7, 1935 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Thomas Lester Hudson and Anne Prue Moss Hudson. His mother loved her “Joe Boy.” He grew up in First Ward. While attending junior high school he helped the milkman before school, delivered` the morning paper and then walked to school. After school, he practiced football and then walked home. He attended Harding High School and Central High School. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. Mr. Hudson honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He coached little league teams, CYAC teams and CPCC’s first football team. He later umpired little league through college baseball games. Mr. Hudson retired as inventory control specialist of American Bearing and Invetec. He also worked part-time in the Pro Shop of Oak Hills Golf Course. Mr. Hudson was an active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Everyone loved his sense of humor. Mr. Hudson’s favorite TV shows were Jeopardy, Walker Texas Ranger and Bonanza. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings unconditionally.

The family will receive friends 11:00 - 11:45 AM Saturday, October 6th at Hickory Grove Baptist Church - Main Campus. The service to celebrate the life of Joe E. Hudson will be held 12:00 PM Saturday in the church sanctuary with Reverend John Harrill, Reverend Henry Ward and Reverend Arnold Kessler, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife since their marriage on July 7,1956, Nancy Simpson Hudson; three children, Tony Lee Hudson (Kathy), Deana Joelle Hudson(Gary) and Jason Allen Hudson, all of Charlotte; two siblings, Dallas Hudson (Kathleen) of Charlotte and Nancy Foster (Omer) of Mint Hill; four grandchildren, Brandon Starnes, Desiree Bare, Ryan Hudson and Josh Trexler, all of Charlotte; seven great grandchildren, Jalen, Braden, Rylee, Hailey, Noah, Reece and Canton; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by six siblings, Earl Deese, Grace Rogers, Margaret Robbins, Carl Deese, O.J. Deese and Betty Jo Hughes
