Charlotte – Job Ellison "Joe" Taylor, Jr., 85, passed away at home on March 22, 2015. He was born on July 9, 1929, in Macon, GA, a son of the late Job Ellison Taylor, Sr. and Ruth Adams Taylor, and beloved husband to his late wife, Jean Johnson Taylor.
Joe served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany after WWII, he then went on to attend and graduate from the University of South Carolina, where he met the love of his life, Jean. After college, he went on to work for The General Electrical Company for 38 years as a sales engineer until his retirement. He had a love of Gamecock football, and enjoyed season tickets to the games with his son, Jet. Joe was an avid golfer and spent all of his free time golfing with his buddies. Joe really enjoyed his grandsons and spending time with his family, both immediate and extended. He was a 35 year member, and former Head Deacon, of Providence Baptist Church. One of his great joys was volunteering for different activities at the church, and helping out wherever he was needed. Joe enjoyed many years of vacationing on Edisto Island, SC with family and friends alike. He had such a wonderful sense of humor, loved laughing, and making others laugh. Later in life, he doted on the other love of his life, his dog Missy.
In addition to his wife, Jean, Joe was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Jack Hilton. He is survived by a sister, Robyn Cornish of Beaumont, TX; daughter, Debbie T. Hill; sons, Jet Taylor, and Tom Taylor and wife Leslie; and grandsons, Alex and Miles Taylor, all of Charlotte.
