Jewell Adelle Frye Safrit

Jewell Adelle Frye Safrit, age 84, affectionately called “Ms. Jewell,” “Mom,” and “Mammommy,” went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Concord, NC, Jewell was the daughter of the late Ben and Betty Frye. Jewell married Henry H. Safrit on August 28, 1948, and together they raised three daughters. She was an active and dedicated member of Purcell United Methodist Church for 60 years. She loved working at Southeastern Beauty College for over 30 years and never met a stranger. She was full of life and energy and was a very genuine, encouraging, generous, loving, thoughtful and unselfish person. She had a heart of gold and loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will be missed by all.

Jewell is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Henry H. Safrit, who adored her; and three daughters, Sheri Brown, Angela Morrow and Robin Safrit. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Heather Nichols, Micah Bridges and Christie Klassette; and three great grandchildren, Zack Gardner, Will Klassette and Gunner Klassette.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to all those who participated in her care. A special thank you to Adinah Hogan and Claudia Houston, Robbie Rowe, Jenna and Terry Ivester, Bill and Bonnie Crowder and to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care who were instrumental to her quality of life.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 6th at 1:00 P.M. at Purcell United Methodist Church, 2141 Weyland Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28208. The service will follow at 2:00 P.M.
