Jerry Hamilton Pigg passed away January 12, 2014. Born October 19, 1939 in Union County, NC, he was a son of the late Wade Hamilton Pigg and Ruth Lowery Pigg. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Allen Pigg.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patsy Cottingham Pigg; his brother, Billy Ray Pigg (Sylvia); his sister, Sandra Pigg Andrus (Dan); and his sister-in-law, Jeannie Stroud Pigg. In addition, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerry graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. He retired as Traffic Manager of Pelton & Crane after 42 years of service.
Jerry’s hobbies over the years included hunting, fishing, making fishing plugs, building street rods, attending car shows, building and flying remote control airplanes and bowling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends.
Jerry was a member of the Charlotte Bowling Association, Academy of Model Aeronautics and Po-Boy Pop Twisters flying club. He was a former member of Monroe Car Club.
A memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Pigg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
