Jerry Lee Morgan, of Matthews, passed away October 31, 2012 at home. He was born on February 28, 1935 in Albemarle, NC to the late Odell J. “Red” Morgan and Ruth Blalock Morgan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Gainey Morgan and brothers, Jimmy K. and Connie W. Morgan.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Lee Morgan and granddaughter, Hannah of Greenville, NC, four brothers; Mickey V. (Betty) of Albemarle, Max O. (Gail) of Charlotte, Paul S. (Linda) of Indian Trail and John T. (Sheila) of Chattanooga, TN as well as honorary sister, Penny Bell of Matthews, sisters in law; Delane and Gaybrielle Morgan. He also enjoyed numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry attended Albemarle City Schools and Carolina Business College in Charlotte. He served four years in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He was employed as an independent sales agent for approximately 38 years with Bowman-Barnes Distributors of Cleveland, OH.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served for many years as hunt manager for the Albemarle Hunt Club of Scotland and Montgomery counties.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00am in the chapel at McEwen in Mint Hill. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park with military honors.
