Jeanne Anderson Stratton

She was a graduate of Shaw High School (Cleveland, OH) in 1947; Wesley Memorial Hospital (Chicago, Illinois) in 1954 as a Registered Nurse; and Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois) in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She worked at Huron Road Hospital (Cleveland, Ohio) until 1967; and Carolinas Medical Center (Charlotte, NC) from 1974-1994.

Jeanne married Jim Stratton on December 2, 1961 in Cleveland, OH. In Cleveland she gave birth to her two boys, Bill (1965) and Andy (1967). In 1968, she moved with Jim and her children to Charlotte, NC. Jeanne decided to stay home with her children until returning to work at Carolinas Medical Center in 1974.

Outside of work, Jeanne very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jeanne loved sports including football, swimming, boating, water skiing, bicycling as well as crossword puzzles, going to parties and shopping. Jeanne also liked traveling with family to the lake, beach and mountains. She liked spending time outside enjoying flowers, trees, scenery, and animals. Many dogs and cats found their way home with Jeanne over the years, but mostly dogs after she married Jim.

Jeanne spent most of her life around the water; swimming, boating, and water skiing with her family on Lake Erie; swimming in the pool and beach in North & South Carolina; swimming at the neighborhood pool in the summer months. Jeanne spent almost everyday at the YMCA swimming laps, often over a mile per visit, at the indoor pool.

Jeanne grew up around the game of football. As she moved to Cleveland, Chicago, and Charlotte, she became an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and the NC State Wolfpack.

One thing Jeanne did not like to do was cook, so Jim did most of the gourmet cooking. She did, however, enjoy going out to eat. After retirement, she and Jim were regulars at the local Wendy's, having cheeseburgers, fries, coffee and a frosty…then going out for ice cream.

Jim called Jeanne “Dear” and Jeanne called everyone “Honey”.

She was a member of Epworth Euclid Methodist Church (Cleveland, OH); Providence Methodist Church, Pineville Methodist Church, and Calvary Church (Charlotte, NC).

She was preceded in death by her Husband of 44 years, Jim Stratton; her Brother, Gordon Anderson; and Daughter-In-Law, Lisa Stratton.

Survivors include her children, Son Bill and Wife Adrienne Stratton, and Son Andy Stratton; her Grandchildren, Robert and Elizabeth Stratton; her Niece, Kim Stratton-Coseriu; her Sister-In-Law, Helen Anderson; and Nephews, Bryan and Carl Anderson.
