She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors and family vacations. In her later years, she went back to school and earned her LPN license to become a nurse in Home Health Care. Jean could be considered an early environmentalist, always protecting and honoring the Earth by recycling and being as green as possible. But most of all, Jean was a homemaker who took care of her family. She took care of others by always having her home open to anyone in need.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frank Kenneth Patterson; sons, Kevin William Patterson (Laurie), Edward Frank Patterson (Angela), David Arthur Patterson (Julie) and John S. Patterson (Krista); grandchildren, Charles Patterson, Lara Tozzi, Maxwell Patterson, Katherine Patterson, Andrew Patterson (Jen), Frank Patterson, Lance Patterson (Amanda), Kenneth Patterson (Tara), Olivia Patterson, Gabrielle Patterson; great grandchildren, Lilliana Tozzi, Evan Patterson, Eva Patterson and Morgan Patterson; two sisters, Leah Brown and Marilyn Piesecki.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Charles “Chaz” Patterson and sister, Betty Lou Kemper.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 30th of January, 2017 at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 with a visitation held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Charlotte Rescue Mission at PO Box 33000, Charlotte, NC 28233.
