STORIES, HUMOR
• Pulling the big black snake from the foundation vents on the house
• Burning weeds by the creek with poison ivy, got into her bloodstream
• Getting really sick from food poisoning from eating trout in the mountains and rode a cooler all the way home in a van
• Her whole fried flounder, creamed corn, spaghetti, mackerel stew, banana pudding and sweet tea were recurring dishes.
• It was important to her to have a clean house, so she spent a lot of time cleaning, doing laundry, cooking for the family.
• She loved fresh flowers and candles and she always had them around.
• It was also important to her that she taught us how to set a table properly, that we have good table manners and that us kids were well behaved at home and in public.
• She taught the Girl Scouts how to have a proper “tea”. She was very concerned with etiquette, tradition and formality.
Four words that sum up Mom’s life:
Serving God, Etiquette, Hard Work, Discipline
