Jean G. Cobb

Jean G. Cobb, age 82 of Charlotte died March 8, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. A visitation will begin at 1:00PM Friday, March 11, 2011 at Calvary United Methodist Church with a service to celebrate her life to follow at 2:00PM, Reverend Melita Padila officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Mrs. Cobb was born in Charlotte December 23, 1928 daughter of the late James Melville and Isabelle Henderson Grier. She was a long time member of Calvary United Methodist Church, member and past president of the United Methodist Women, had served as church treasurer, member of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 380 and recently received a 50 year certificate. Mrs. Cobb was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who loved and cherished her family. She always thought of others first and was willing to serve and help in any way. She was a living example of Jesus Christ. Surviving are her husband, Austin A. (Bill) Cobb, daughters, Kathy Combs (Rick) of Charlotte and Carol Webb (Mike) of Stanley, NC, grandchildren, Randy Combs (Erin) of California, Lindsay Phillips (Kevin) of Charlotte, and Kayla Webb of Stanley, NC. She was very excited about twin sons to be born to Lindsay and Kevin in July. Also surviving is her twin sister, June Severs of Charlotte and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and a brothers-in-law, Fred Severs and Jack Isenhour.
