Janis was born April 14, 1957, in Germantown, TN to the late William David “Buddy” German and Homer Elizabeth “Lizzy” Crafton German.
Janis married the love of her life, her husband Burkhard Joachin “BJ” Doering of Unterlüss Germany, who predeceased her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janis also was preceded in death by her brothers, James William, Marvin Acey, Carl Allen, Winston Wayne, Robert Earl, and David Anthony German, and two sisters, Marry Elizabeth Curran, and Barbara Ann McCullough.
Survivors include her sister Brenda Henley of Somerville, TN., several nieces, nephews, and her two Fur-Babies Dixie and Cooper Doering, that meant the world to her.
Janis was a fun-loving one of a kind jewel with a gypsy soul! From her no-nonsense attitude to her fun-loving rebel side, her contagious spirit could light up any room. She utilized her spirit throughout her career in the transportation industry, where she devoted the last 19 years as a Corporate Safety Specialist servicing over 40 terminals and staff along with 2,500 drivers. Janis was truly an iconic model, her passion, commitment, and dedication made a tangible difference to so many who knew and loved her.
In Janis’s free time, she enjoyed working on home projects, gardening, beach trips, horse races, cookouts, and dining out. One of her favorite places was the Waldhorn (German) Restaurant where she and BJ shared many special memories like October Fest, Kleiner Feigling (googly eyes), and Franziskaner HefeWeiss. Janis loved sharing her memories with friends and introducing them to experience a little bit of Germany. Prost!
There will be a celebration of life held in Janis’s honor, the date will be announced later.
Those wishing to make a contribution in her name are asked to consider The Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas or the Cancer Research Institute.
