Janice Evon Widstrom Tschritter, 74, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2011 at the Carriage Club of Charlotte. She was born April 9, 1937 in Hecla, SD to the late John and Tena Widstrom. Janice was preceded in death in September 2002 by her loving husband of 40 years, Samuel, and her son, Jarrod who died in 1968.
Janice moved to Charlotte from Wilmington in 1989 where she and her husband lived and worked for 17 years. She was an elementary school teacher and later an administrative director for a preschool and daycare center. She was active in her church and women’s groups at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Janice was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and neighbor. She had a deep love for her family and friends and touched the lives of many through her sincere compassion, kindness and generosity towards others. Janice was an amazing cook, accomplished artist and crafter, but most of all, she loved spending time with her only grandson, Samuel, who was the light of his “Grammy’s” life.
Janice is survived by her son, Jonathan; daughter and son-in-law, Jada and George Krall; grandson, Samuel Krall; brothers, Neil and Donald Widstrom and sisters, Shirley Richardson and Dorothy Lower.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 27, 2011 at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, 28210 with Pastor Steven Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation www.kidneyfund.org.
