Jane Ellen Roberts

Her infectious laugh, her sense of humor, her powerful presence – she was full of spirit and intensity and will be intensely missed. Our dear sweet daughter and sister, Jane Ellen Roberts, has passed away December 13, 2016.

Born January 7, 1986, we had almost thirty-one years with our smart and talented Jane Ellen. Those that knew her, loved her. Jane Ellen was the joy and fire of our family.

She enriched our lives when she dressed up and played Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” with the part of Toto being played by Gunner, her eighty-pound black Labrador retriever. She brought smiles to our faces with her collection of stuffed monkeys (instead of dolls) – her favorite being a monkey she named Emily.

Her liveliness, her wit energized our family life. Her artistic flair/flare made her a natural for the theatre: whether at home in plays written and directed by her brothers or as a regular cast member of the play “Twas the Night Before Christmas” performed by the Charlotte Children’s Theatre.

She played soccer, the flute and the piano, all with zest and verve. She became an active member of the Providence Presbyterian Church family, baptized at age twelve. With her church friends and family she enjoyed trips to Montreat, Windy Gap, and South Wind.

The family finds comfort in that she is now in a better place and at peace in the presence of God. She is survived by two loving brothers, Nate and Luke; her loving mom, Kathy; and her adoring dad, Leonard.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21st at Providence Presbyterian Church, 10140 Providence Church Lane, Charlotte, NC 28277, with a reception to follow.

Flowers and written messages in the memory of our precious daughter may be sent to Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. Those that wish to may contribute in her memory to the General Fund of Providence Presbyterian Church where Jane Ellen enjoyed some of the best moments of her life.

She is deeply missed.
